Dr. Ausra Burns has been member of the Mount Allison community since 2001. Her work has included teaching in Geography, Sociology, Fine Arts and Womens’ Studies. She is Director of the Aboriginal Community Development Centre, Adjunct Professor of Canadian Studies and Geography, and a Research Associate in the Rural and Small Town Programme.
Ausra completed her Interdisciplinary PhD at the University of Alberta. Her research interests are in ethnographic, participatory and action research; urban social theory and urban anthropology; pedagogy; and topics relating to First Nations in Canada with a concentration on issues associated with First Nations community development. Ausra has worked directly with First Nations communities across the Atlantic region on a wide range of projects.
