Kelly Hawke Baxter served as Chair of the Board of The Natural Step from 2002-2004. She was part of the original steering committee that brought The Natural Step to Canada in 1996, and a founding Board Member. She is also a Board Member of The Natural Step International.
Kelly has been working on sustainability and environmental issues for 14 years. Before working with The Natural Step, Kelly served as Director of Communications for Canada’s National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE). While at the Round Table, Kelly worked to increase awareness about sustainable development in Canadian communities, corporations, professional and industrial associations, the federal government and educational institutions. A journalist by training, Kelly has 15 years experience in communications, and has worked at CTV and The Financial Post. She holds Masters Degrees in both Development Studies, and International Journalism. Kelly has a long history of working with non-profit organizations, including Friends of the Earth, the Developing Countries Farm Radio Network, Street Kids International, The Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation, and the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation.
