Kenneth Church, P. Eng. Manager, Community Planning Natural Resources Canada

Mr. Church has a long history of energy related employment, from Rolls Royce to Ontario Hydro, as an energy efficiency consultant and finally as a Manager of Community Planning within the Sustainable Buildings & Communities group of Natural Resources Canada where he has been for over 7 years. His area of responsibility includes developing tools, guidelines and best practices that relate energy consumption to the urban form. He also develops awareness in municipal energy sustainability and, in particular assists in the promotion of District Energy projects within Canadian communities. He is a Director on the Canadian District Energy Association and works closely with the municipalities and the private sector industries alike, to assist in the conceptual evaluation and development of engineering and business aspects of a variety of district energy projects across Canada . His latest area of work is in spearheading an initiative to bring community energy and community energy planning into line with the development of a community’s Official Plan.
