Martha J. Lewis Executive Director TRAC Tenant Resource & Advisory Centre

Martha J. Lewis holds a BA (Economics) from the University of Victoria , and LLB from the University of British Columbia and an LLM from the University of Bristol , focuses on human, labour and welfare rights and environmental law.

She is a barrister and solicitor, and the legislative liaison for the poverty law section of the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association.

Martha is the Executive Director of the TRAC Tenant Resource & Advisory Centre, a non-profit organisation established in 1984 to provide legal and practical information to tenants about their rights and responsibilities, and to advocate for secure, affordable housing for the people of British Columbia .

As well as providing information via its Hotline, website and publications, TRAC is a strong advocate for the preservation and expansion of the affordable rental housing stock. TRAC is on the federal advisory board for the development of a nat ional Canadian Housing Framework, and involved with several nat ional and provincial organizations that promote “smart” growth in housing.
